Festival FAQ – 2017

What is it?  43rd Annual Bluegrass and Old Time Music Festival.

When will it be held?  September 14 – 17, 2017.

Should I bring my own folding chair?  YES, our primary concert venue at the SKI HILL (Pioneer Stage) will be “festival seating”, so please bring your own chairs, umbrellas, shade canopy’s etc.  We’ve ordered beautiful weather but it’s always  a good idea to be prepared.

Will there be jamming?  Yes, there will be structured / scheduled jams, pick-up jams, camp site jams, spontaneous jams, pickin’ in the park jams, and peanut butter and jam jams(PBJ’s) for the uninitiated.  😉

Will there be dancing? YES! The Soda Rock Ramblers will have your hands clappin’ and your toes tappin’ at our Saturday night BARN DANCE to be held in the historic Red River Community House. The dance will be called by Kris Kermit.

If I am RV or tent camping, how will I get to the festival venues?  The town of Red River will operate a FREE shuttle service with extended hours throughout our festival. Rides will be scheduled and available via dispatch.

Indoors or outdoors?  BOTH, our primary venue will be outdoors (IMPORTANT! – this is “festival seating”, please bring your portable seating. Lawn chairs, fold-up, camping, etc.).  Our indoor venue will have seating available for about 200…again, you may want to carry your own chairs here too!

Red River is at 8,670′ altitude, what should I wear?  In mid September you can expect warm days and cool nights. You may want to prepare for an occasional late Summer shower or two as well.

Will there be activities for my younger children at the festival and in Red River?  Red River is a vacation destination for all ages, here’s a link to some great information. As for the festival? Absolutely!!

What about food, beverages and adult beverages? In addition to snack bars at both venues (inc. beer and wine at the SKI AREA), Red River offers a diverse offering of dining establishments sure to satisfy any appetite, all within walking distance of both venues.  Here’s a LINK for more information.

I can’t live without FaceBook, Twitter and Instagram, are there any WiFi hot spots available?  Indeed there are! Red River has FREE WiFi service throughout most of the town.  Here’s a coverage area MAP. You’ll notice that ALL of our venues are covered. =)

Are the activities at the Community House really offered for FREE?  With the exception of the Taste of Red River event on Thursday night all spectator events offered at the Red River Community House are FREE indeed.  Please read more about the history and mission of the Red River Community House found HERE.

Are Red River and the Music festival pet friendly? Absolutely, just ask Monroe and EmmyLou. The Community House prefers that pets do not enter, however, they are more than welcome to participate from the spacious porch outside the front entrance to the venue where they’re sure to enjoy a “howling” good time!
